Bullfighting Epaulettes: The Suit of Lights on Your Shoulders

The matador’s traje de luces is one of the most iconic garments in Spanish culture, and its shoulders are where much of its craftsmanship shines. Our bullfighting epaulettes bring that same spirit to everyday fashion: just pin them onto a jacket, blazer, dress or even a T-shirt for an instant statement look.

Handmade in Spain by Silvia Barca

All our epaulettes are designed by Spanish designer Silvia Barca. They are sold in pairs, have a felt backing and attach with a safety pin.

  • AlamArte: a central alamar with stones and trimmings, finished with tassels, in black or fuchsia.
  • Colored Alamar: available in eight colours, from aubergine and ivory to fuchsia, red and jet black.
  • Flores de la Puebla Mini: jet black with trimmings and flowers embroidered in rhinestones.
  • Embossed (Repujadas): in gold, black or red, including heart and round versions.
  • Navy Filigree: navy and gold, for a more elegant touch.

Make Your Own: Alamares to Sew

FAQ

What are alamares?
They are the ornamental embroidered fastenings on a matador’s jacket, one of the most recognisable details of the suit of lights.

How do I attach the epaulettes?
Most models attach with a safety pin, so you can move them from one garment to another. The heart-shaped embossed model is sewn on.

Are they a good gift or souvenir?
Yes. They are light, easy to pack and truly unique: a piece of Spanish bullfighting craftsmanship you can wear.
